We're all Cousins now: Vikings sign next quarterback
Longtime Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins officially signed Thursday with the Minnesota Vikings in a deal that makes the team a contender for a division title and a potential Super Bowl. The Vikings didn't disclose  details of the contract but NFL.com reports that he signed a three-year, guaranteed $84 million deal that makes him the highest paid player in football history.
Church, victims spar over religious order's bankruptcy plan
The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis is objecting to a religious order's bankruptcy reorganization plan that would give $25 million to 67 sexual abuse victims. She wants to link in people of color, Twin Cities prosperity
Over the years, Sharon Smith-Akinsanya realized business opportunities were out of reach for people of color who experience drastically higher unemployment and earn significantly less than whites in the state. She didn't feel jilted, though. Instead, she focused her efforts on bridging the gap.
Elder care bill addresses in-room cameras, corrective action
A new package of elder care proposals introduced Thursday at the Capitol attempts to clear up how complaints are handled and punishment is assessed. The wide-ranging plan, one of several now under consideration, marks the Senate Republican response to systematic lapses at care facilities and by regulators who oversee them.

Pedestrian bridge collapses at Florida university
The Florida International University pedestrian bridge across Southwest Eighth Street in Miami collapsed Thursday afternoon, trapping an unknown number of people underneath. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue tweeted that "multiple" people were injured when the Florida International University bridge collapsed. Authorities said they were working on confirming the numbers. The bridge under construction was expected to open to foot traffic next year.
iHeartMedia turns the dial to bankruptcy
iHeartMedia, the country's largest radio broadcaster with around 850 stations and a leading outdoor advertising company, is filing for bankruptcy after spending years trying to manage its $20 billion in outstanding indebtedness. The company owns 11 Twin Cities and Rochester radio stations, including KDWB and KFAN.
Ramsey Co. deputy cleared for killing man in RV confrontation
The Ramsey County Attorney's Office says a sheriff's deputy was justified in shooting and killing a man in a confrontation in an RV in Vadnais Heights. The investigation into the April shooting found that deputies on patrol noticed the RV near U.S. Highway 61 and Interstate 694 following a report of a sexual assault nearby involving a similar vehicle. They stopped to investigate and found 47-year-old Darren Jahnke inside.
