Friend, These past few months have made it clear that we need Net Neutrality more than ever. We need it to fight racism. We need it to stop deportations. We need it to organize our communities. We need it to share life-saving information during environmental disasters. We need it to counter the failures of corporate news networks that value profits over people. We need it to access economic opportunities, education, health care and so much more. We believe that your Representative Ted Lieu and Senators Dianne Feinstein and Kamala D. Harris are key lawmakers we need to talk to about saving the open internet. Will you sign up to attend a town-hall meeting or host a drop-in with one of them? While the FCC is rushing to dismantle the Title II Net Neutrality protections that so many of us fought for, members of Congress who take big money from companies like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon are trying to strike a backroom deal to pass legislation that will ensure Net Neutrality is gone for good. Stopping this plan in Congress is the most important thing we can do right now to keep the internet open and accessible. We need to make sure that EVERY single senator and representative hears from their constituents — that’s why we’re asking you to attend a town-hall meeting or show up at your member’s in-district office and talk about Net Neutrality. Drop-ins and town halls are super-easy to participate in, and can be fun when you organize a group of people to go with you! We’d like to help you do just that: Sign up to host a drop-in or attend a town hall with your member of Congress and we'll connect you with others in your area who will join you. If there isn’t a town hall scheduled in your area, you can drop by your member’s in-district office any time it’s open and let your lawmaker or their staff know why Net Neutrality is important to you. We'll provide all the info you'll need to make your meeting successful. In fact, you can check out a guide we made to support your organizing. Losing Net Neutrality would be a blow to all social movements fighting for justice and standing up against the Trump administration. The open internet is our best tool for sharing vital information and organizing our communities. Handing control of the internet over to corporations would be a disaster for civil and human rights — and put vulnerable communities in even more danger. Now is the time to make sure your senator or representative hears from you about Net Neutrality. Politicians and corporate lobbyists shouldn’t get to determine the future of the open internet in secret. Sign up now and we’ll follow up to help you set up a meeting — and we’ll even recruit others from your district to join you. Thanks for all that you do— Lucia, Candace, Dutch and the rest of the Free Press Action Fund team P.S. Want to see if there’s already a meeting planned near you?
