We're talking baseball, plenty of it, and some softball, golf and track as well

Good morning all!

Do you like baseball? If you do, you're going to love what we have for you today: Seven items for you to digest while waiting for LSU to begin play in the SEC tournament.

We've also got a couple of other sports that came up short in their bid to extend their postseason and more Tigers who begin their quest for national titles at midweek.

So, let's get going.

Baseball

While LSU's hitters were smacking Vanderbilt pitchers around during a three-game weekend sweep, the pitching wasn't bad, either. So beat writer Leah Vann takes a closer look with an eye on how Jay Johnson's mound corps lines up for the tournament.

Leah also gives us an early scouting report on LSU's first foe in the tournament Wednesday night — the winner of Tuesday's late contest between Auburn and Kentucky.

While you're at it, you might as well take a look at the SEC tournament primer that will get you ready for all the action starting Tuesday in Hoover, Alabama.

We have some news as well: Dylan Crews is named SEC co-player of the year, Brayden Jobert picks up the player of the week award (yeah, like that was a surprise) an injury update from Johnson and the Tigers' jump in the polls.

Whew.

Softball

Unfortunately, an up-and-down season came to an end Saturday night with LSU's second consecutive loss in the NCAA Tempe regional, but the Tigers are already looking for a bounceback in 2023.

Women's golf

The heartbreak didn't end with the softball team as the women's golf team came up a few shots shy of making the match play portion of the NCAA championships Monday.

Track and field

LSU has qualified 30 athletes for the NCAA East Preliminary rounds beginning Wednesday in Bloomington, Indiana. Get a look at who will be vying for spots in the national semifinals and finals next month.

Finally ...

Thank you for reading, and have a great day.
