Hey fam,

I'm not gonna lie, this week has been tough. The racist massacre that happened on Saturday in Buffalo left a weight on my heart that I just can't get off. Reading the list of the dead victims' names — Pearl Young, Heyward Patterson, Geraldine Talley and seven others — made me think of my grandparents and parents. It made me think of the older generations of Black folks who worked hard to create a life more equitable for my generation.

It's sick, honestly. And I'm sick and tired of having to mourn our people again and again and again and again and...

I hope you all are taking care of yourselves and your loved ones in the best way that you can. We all we got. Truly.

Some news that made me smile this week: Rihanna gave birth to her baby! Riri and A$AP Rocky welcomed their baby boy on May 13 in Los Angeles. Congratulations to them both!

Not all heroes wear capes. The Congressional Black Caucus is applying pressure on President Joe Biden to cancel student loan debt, calling the crisis “a racial and economic justice issue disproportionately impacting Black communities.” They ain't lying.
