At VitalSmarts, our mission is to help people change their lives by changing behavior. That mission and pledge has never been more crucial than right now—a time when racial injustice, systemic exclusion, and police brutality continue to perpetuate a system that marginalizes Black Americans. Our mission demands that we stand unequivocally with the Black community, our Black colleagues, and our Black customers.
Like you, we are horrified by the senseless death of George Floyd. We are deeply saddened by and cognizant of the fact that Mr. Floyd is only one of countless other Black Americans who have been wrongfully abused, incarcerated, and killed due to racism. The sheer volume of those needless victims should never be ignored.
We stand with those seeking immediate legal and legislative reform, and we stand for those whose voices have been ignored for far too long.
As an organization, we believe change happens one crucial conversation at a time. So, as part of a commitment to combat racism, we will:
- Give away 1000 Crucial Conversations e-books to civic, religious, legislative, law enforcement, and community leaders, as well as anyone committed to engage in the tough conversations needed to drive lasting change on this issue. - Donate 100% of this week's proceeds from our How Do I Say That? minicourse to causes that support racial equality.
- Use our platform to address racial injustice by adding videos to our How Do I Say That? series on how to speak up about racism.
