Look what you can make with this very unique bread!

This is a unique bread. Sally Lunn was an old-English innkeeper and this recipe has stood the test of time. It's an eggy bread that works wonderfully for these rolls and is terrific for French toast.

Lemon Rolls
The apple nut sweet rolls are rolled up like a cinnamon roll with apple pie/pastry filling and plenty of chopped nuts. Since the filling was sweet, we drizzled icing over the rolls. The cherry rolls are filled with pastry filling as are the lemon rolls.

The apple nut rolls were spread apart on the baking sheet so they spread more and into nice neat disks. The lemon rolls were baked closely together so they are pull-apart rolls.

All three are very good. I like the apple nut filling. I like the tartness of the cherry filling matched with a thick cream cheese frosting--sort of like eating cherry cheesecake in a pastry. And I love lemon and this is the best lemon filling I've ever found.

This is also one of my favorite breads for French toast.

The moist egginess and the fine crumb gives perfect substance for French toast.

(By the way, walnuts and bananas with your French toast is wonderful!)

It's also a great sandwich and dinner bread!
