After shaking up the summer last year, the Future Proof Festival returned to Huntington Beach this week for the second running of the only annual wealth conference that mashes up practice management with 18-wheeler In-N-Out foot trucks.

There's too much to jam into this newsletter alone to sum up the experience in Surf City, but I was on the ground again this year to host a panel a RIA custody alongside Richard Lofgren of Goldman Sachs and Mazi Bahadori of Altruist that kicked off day two.

More importantly, Financial Planning Managing Editor Cat Auer made both her Future Proof and FP byline debut this week with a look at the event that attracted 3,000 attendees. Check out the piece that includes interviews with Joe Duran breaking the news of his next venture, and Advisor Circle CEO Matt Middleton explaining how he wanted to blow the mind of everyone who took part in the experience. 

And while everyone followed the old advice of not bringing sand to the beach, they brought plenty of wealthtech and tech-focused insights. Some of the highlights include Caribou CEO and Co-Founder Christine Simone giving advisors practical advice on generative AI; Orion CEO Eric Clarke and Chief Behavioral Officer Daniel Crosby announcing an AI meets BeFi collaboration; and Envestnet loading up its platform with dozens of upgrades.
