Goose Creek electric referendum passes

A special referendum allowing Goose Creek to establish a municipal electric utility passed Tuesday night, clearing the way for the city to annex 5,000 acres in the Mt. Holly area and begin providing electricity to Century Aluminum in 2021. 

Trident Tech approves budget for Dorchester Campus

The Trident Technical College Area Commission approved $1.9 million Tuesday from its Capital Project Fund to establish a new college campus in Dorchester County.

Helping Out

S.C. Ports Authority awarded $128,500 in grants to 71 charitable organizations through its annual Community Giving Program. A committee of members with various backgrounds at the port review applications and prioritize funding.
