Insurer offers new short-term plan for S.C. residents over 50

South Carolina is among the first of 17 states to have access to a new short-term care insurance options. The new AARP Short-Term Care Insurance from Medico complements other insurances, covers fives types of extended care, and includes well-care coordination and household assistance. 

Gig-based moving business to launch service in Charleston

Online moving service Bellhops is launching in Charleston, with moves expected to start Feb. 19. Bellhops allows users to create a moving plan for an office, residence or storage unit and be matched with movers and drivers in the area.

Columbia airport development targets e-commerce market

Columbia Metropolitan Airport is working with Magnus Development Partners to develop 500 acres of airport property by offering spec and build-to-suit properties for warehouse, distribution, logistics or office needs. Airport Executive Director Michael Gula said the location makes logistical sense for companies such as Amazon, Nephron, Husqvarna and FN Manufacturing, all of which have area presences.
