Citadel campus to reopen for fall semester

The Citadel will reopen its campus to cadets and students in August to begin the fall semester, the first Lowcountry college to solidify plans for the upcoming academic year. Classes are tentatively scheduled to begin Aug. 26 for graduate students and Aug. 28 for cadets.

April port volumes down as result of COVID-19

The S.C. Ports Authority saw a slight dip in container volumes last month because of COVID-19, but fiscal year-to-date volumes remain steady, according to data provided by the ports authority. So far in this fiscal year, which began July 1, the port has moved 1.13 million pier containers and 2 million TEUs.

Palmetto Brewing Co. and High Wire Distilling Co. have partnered to process beer into hand sanitizer for local distribution. Under a fully controlled, distillation process, alcohol was evaporated from the beer, cooled and collected. Glycerin and hydrogen peroxide were then mixed in to make a standard hand sanitizer solution.
