| | Wednesday, November 30, 2022 | Good morning everyone! Dan Schneier back again to help get you prepared for this pivotal Week 13 slate. We know these matchups could decide whether or not you make the playoffs -- or even grab a bye week -- so it's vital to get these lineup decisions nailed down. That's what today's newsletter is all about -- previewing each position to get you a good feel for which players belong in and out of your lineups. | Tomorrow, we'll have Start/Sit calls from Jamey Eisenberg and Dave Richard both tonight and tomorrow morning in the FFT newsletter, so keep an eye out for that. Today, we have Heath Cummings' Week 12 previews to get you started. Before we do that, let's dive into some of the most recent injury updates: | | Key injury updates | Tevin Coleman, RB, 49ers | A blast from the past -- Coleman -- who birthed his career with Kyle Shanahan during his tenure as Falcons offensive coordinator -- may be back in a big role in Week 13. The 49ers are banged up at running back after losing Elijah Mitchell to what's likely a season-ending injury and with Christian McCaffrey dealing with knee tendinitis. While McCaffrey is still expected to play, The Athletic's Matt Barrows believes Coleman could play a big role in the 49ers backfield with Mitchell out. "Never underestimate Shanahan's fondness for veteran Tevin Coleman" is how Barrows described it and he could easily be elevated from the practice squad for this game. If McCaffrey is limited, would you expect Shanahan to trust a veteran like Coleman who has been in his system, knows all the calls, etc or someone like Jordan Mason or rookie Tyrion Davis-Price? I'm leaning Coleman. | Aaron Rodgers, QB, Packers | Rodgers told the Pat McAfee Show that he got "good news" with his scans and plans on playing this week. This is great news for Aaron Jones, Christian Watson and every other Packers player you're considering putting into your lineups this week. While Jordan Love looked much improved from when we saw him start against the Chiefs last year, there were still issues with ball placement that I saw when I watched the All-22 of Eagles-Packers. Also, you take away the big play throws that you get from Rodgers having elite level arm talent (there has been zero drop off with Rodgers from an arm talent standpoint -- though alarmingly -- there has been a drop off from a processing/post-snap vision standpoint). | Josh Jacobs, RB, Raiders | NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports Josh Jacobs (calf) "hopes" to play in Week 13 against the Chargers. And we hope he does as well considering this is another fairly juicy matchup. Jacobs played through the calf injury last week in his historic performance (fewer than 10 players have ever rushed for 300 yards in a single game) and even said after the game coaches tried to pull him at one point. If you're a Jacobs manager, you should definitely stash Zamir White on your bench. If Jacobs is forced to miss this game, White is worth starting in all formats. | | Daniel Bellinger, TE, Giants | The rookie Day 3 NFL Draft pick started to creep onto the Fantasy radar before his fluke eye injury against the Jaguars and he told reporters on Tuesday that he no longer has double vision. Brian Daboll, Giants head coach, used the word optimistic when it comes to Bellinger returning this Sunday. Bellinger evolved into a big component of the Giants offense and that same offense has taken a massive step back since his absence. I'm not telling you that Bellinger is the reason for the Giants successes and failures but I am telling you that he is worth getting on your radar if you're currently starting players like Tyler Higbee (who ran a route on just 36% of his snaps last week) at tight end. | Every Tuesday, Heath Cummings previews each position, providing injury insights, key stats to know, the best waiver-wire adds, DFS targets, and more for quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end. Here's a brief rundown of each position, along with some key details you need to know before you go read Heath's full breakdowns: | Quarterback Preview | Heath answers the burning question of the week: What does Deshaun Watson's return mean for the Fantasy Football landscape? | "Watson been activated by the Cleveland Browns and will make his first start of the 2022 season against his former team, the Houston Texans. Watson statistically has been one of the best young quarterbacks in NFL history and one of the best Fantasy quarterbacks year after year. Considering he's playing the worst team in the NFL, he may seem like an easy start, but there are reasons to be more cautious. | "The most obvious is that Watson has not played football in nearly two seasons. His last game was on Jan. 3, 2021. The only action we saw from him this preseason didn't offer any positives. He attempted five passes and only completed one of them. And he's never played for the Browns or Kevin Stefanski. | "The other reason may be less moving, but the Texans have been surprisingly good against quarterbacks this season. Only the Broncos and Eagles have allowed fewer points to the position. It's mostly because the Texans are so bad against the run, which is a great thing for Nick Chubb . Only three quarterbacks have topped 20 Fantasy points against the Texans all season. | "If you have Watson on your bench, he's a potential league winner in the Fantasy playoffs, but it may be prudent to stick with the guy you've been starting for at least one week." | On a bye: Kyler Murray, Sam Darnold Injuries: Justin Fields (shoulder), Aaron Rodgers (ribs), Jimmy Garoppolo (knee), Matthew Stafford (neck), Carson Wentz (finger) and P.J. Walker (ankle).Number to know: 18.4 -- Fantasy points per game for Trevor Lawrence since Week 4, 0.3 higher than Lamar Jackson. Matchup that matters: Lamar Jackson vs. Den (2nd-best)Waiver add/streamer: "Mike White. White is no safe thing just because he torched the Bears' second-team defense, but the Vikings don't provide a situation that much worse. The pass defense is better, but still below average about any way you look at it. The Vikings also bring a much better offense than the Bears, which should mean White throws the ball 35-plus times. He's a high-end QB2 with top-10 upside." Stash: "Ryan Tannehill. We'll have six teams on a bye next week, so we'll need more streamers. Tannehill has been throwing more recently and faces a mediocre Jacksonville defense. Five of the past six quarterbacks to face the Jaguars have scored at least 21 Fantasy points and four of them have topped 25." | Running Back Preview | "This week has the potential to be an epic disaster at running back on the waiver wire. Zonovan Knight and Benny Snell are the clear top options and we don't even know if the starters on their team will be out. Worse, we don't know for sure if they'll be the guy even if the starters are out because of questions surrounding James Robinson and Benny Snell." | On a bye: James Conner, D'Onta Foreman, Chuba Hubbard Injuries: Josh Jacobs (calf), Travis Etienne (foot), Najee Harris (abdomen), Leonard Fournette (hip), Joe Mixon (concussion), Alvin Kamara (undisclosed), Christian McCaffrey (knee), Raheem Mostert (knee), Michael Carter (ankle), Damien Harris (thigh), Elijah Mitchell (knee), Clyde Edwards-Helaire (ankle), Jaylen Warren (hamstring), Khalil Herbert (hip), J.K. Dobbins (knee), Chase Edmonds (ankle), Rex Burkhead (concussion), Darrel Williams (hip) and Damien Williams (ribs). Number to know: 7. Touches inside the 10-yard line for Isiah Pacheco in Week 12. He only scored once, but had 22 rush attempts in an encouraging performance.Matchup that matters: Devin Singletary vs. NE (best)Waiver add/streamer: "Zonovan Knight. Knight is ahead of Benny Snell, because unlike Snell, there's at least a small chance Knight could win a relevant role rest of season. In his first action of the season, he was clearly the most effective Jets running back both on the ground and through the air."Stash: "J.K. Dobbins. Dobbins is returning to practice this week and is the top stash at running back right now. If he can get back to 100% before the Fantasy playoffs, he'd have league-winning upside against the Browns, Falcons, and Steelers down the stretch. Just don't expect any help getting you to the playoffs." | | Wide Receiver Preview | "It's been a topsy-turvy season at wide receiver and injuries have certainly lowered the bar for starting production at the position this season. But we've also seen a lot more boom-or-bust wide receivers emerge with top-12 weekly upside and very little floor. | The prototype, of course, is Gabe Davis. But before him was Tyler Lockett. And before Lockett was DeSean Jackson . This isn't a new feature, there are just a lot more of them this year, including Davis and Lockett." | On a bye: DeAndre Hopkins, D.J. Moore, Marquise Brown, Terrace Marshall, Rondale Moore Injuries: Tyreek Hill (undisclosed), Ja'Marr Chase (hip), Mike Williams (ankle), Jakobi Meyers (shoulder), Jerry Jeudy (ankle), Cooper Kupp (ankle), Allen Robinson (foot), Darnell Mooney (ankle), Kadarius Toney (hamstring), Mecole Hardman (abdomen), Rondale Moore (groin), Greg Dortch (thumb), Romeo Doubs (ankle), Hunter Renfrow (oblique), DeVante Parker (knee), Russell Gage (hamstring) and Khalil Shakir (illness). Number to know: 266. Ja'Marr Chase set an NFL rookie record with 266 receiving yards against the Chiefs in Week 17 last year. Matchup that matters: Courtland Sutton v. BAL (fifth-worst)Waiver add/streamer: "Zay Jones. Jones has double-digit targets in each of his past two games and he faces a Lions defense that is much-improved against the run but still very generous against the pass. This game also has the second highest over under on the slate, which helps his touchdown odds."Stash: "Treylon Burks. If you've already locked up a spot in the playoffs both Treylon Burks and Jameson Williams should be at the top of your stash list. Both rookies have the upside to be league winners when it matters most. Burks has been outstanding as a downfield option the past two weeks, but I'd rather not start him this week against the Eagles." | Tight End Preview | "In the wide receiver preview I wrote about boom-or-bust wide receivers and how the best plan is just to start them and hope. Unfortunately, Fantasy managers who have George Kittle apparently find themselves in the same boat. | "In Kittle's nine games this season, he's given Fantasy managers 16 or more PPR Fantasy points three times. At this position, that qualifies as a league-winning performance. Unfortunately, four other times he's scored seven PPR Fantasy points or fewer." | On a bye: Trey McBride Injuries: Dallas Goedert (shoulder), Darren Waller (hamstring), Kyle Pitts (knee), Kylen Granson (illness), Isaiah Likely (ankle), Irv Smith (ankle) and Daniel Bellinger (eye).Number to know: 7.8. Gerald Everett whiffed on a dream matchup versus the Cardinals, scoring just 7.8 PPR Fantasy points. He's still running about the same amount of routes, but just isn't producing like he was to start the season. Matchup that matters: Pat Freiermuth vs. ATL (fourth-worst)Waiver add/streamer: "Tyler Conklin. Conklin has averaged 11.5 PPR FPPG in the four games without Zach Wilson. More importantly, he's been much better in games where the Jets throw a lot and the matchup against the Vikings strongly suggests 35-plus pass attempts."Contrarian DFS play: "Tyler Higbee. No one is going to play Higbee this week, and for good reason: He did not see a target last week. But we've seen his role ebb and flow throughout the season and he faces the Seahawks this week. They've allowed double-digit Fantasy points to six tight ends in their past seven games and we just saw a nice bounce-back performance from Foster Moreau against them." | | | | | 24/7 Sports News | | Fantasy Football | ✔Scores & Highlights ✔Fantasy and Betting Advice ✔Interviews with Top Athletes CBS Sports HQ has you covered.
