Week 2 Recap

After dropping their first game of the season, the Leesburg Lightning have put together a six game winning streak, and sit atop the league standings. Leesburg leads the league in almost every offensive category, and has one of the top pitching staffs as well.

Player of the Week
Javeon Cody was a big reason behind the Leesburg win streak. The sophomore outfielder reached base multiple times in all five games playedÃ to earn the second EW Fitness Elite Performer award of the season.

Pitcher of the Week
Devin Meyer of Nova Southeastern went the distance in a rain shortened game, allowing only two base runners and no runs to pick upÃ the Howard, Howard and Hodges Pitcher of the Week award.

2018 MLB Draft
Nineteen former Florida League players were selected by pro ballclubs in the MLB draft June 4-6. Sanford led the way with eight former Rats drafted.
In addition, 26 players who played in the High School Invitational were drafted as well.

FUNraiser Program
What's better than a night at the ballpark? How about taking home some money?! Our FUNraiser program gives the chance for local schools, youth teams, non-profits and groups to sell tickets to Florida League games and take home part of the proceeds!

Saturday Youth Clinics
Florida League teams are hosting Saturday morning clinics in June and July for youth ballplayers ages 6-12. Learn from your favorite players and coaches, and stay afterward for a special autograph session!

Host Families Needed
Dozens of families are lined up to serve as host families for our players this summer, but we still need more! You can play a crucial role in helping our players reach the next level of baseball. Even if you can't host, you can help by spreading the word to your friends and neighbors!
