What’s the saying, the third time’s the charm? That certainly seems to be what Meghan Markle is hoping for. On Tuesday, fresh off her week as an Invictus Games influencer, Markle announced that the Jam Company That Has Yet to Sell Any Jam was getting a new name. So it was goodbye American Riviera Orchard, hello As Ever. In another not-at-all-produced Instagram video, the Princess of Montecito explained that the old name — a nod to where she and Prince Harry live — felt geographically restrictive. (We can think of other reasons ARO wasn’t “perfect,” but we digress.) On the other hand, she said As Ever better aligns with her vision for what’s essentially the Tig 2.0 and “what has always been my love language.” No, not words of affirmation — but “food, gardening, entertaining, thoughtful living, and finding joy in the everyday.” Naturally, there’ll be jam — along with other Markle-approved products. Though, what those are remains TBD. So far, we’ve got a few cryptic hints: a new website featuring nothing but a photo of Markle and her daughter frolicking on a pristine lawn, an Easter egg-laden mood board, and the brand’s first Instagram post — a picture-perfect breakfast spread.
But it wasn’t long before things took a less-than-idyllic turn. As it so happens, there’s an almost decade-old clothing brand also called As Ever — which many were seemingly quick to point out. So many people, in fact, that the clothing company’s founder issued a statement, thanking followers for the “outpouring of support and concern” and promising to “continue As Ever.” But that’s not all: Markle’s new brand name was accompanied by a new logo, featuring a palm tree and two hummingbirds. While some outlets speculated the design was a touching tribute to Prince Harry (which “an insider” later confirmed to People), Xisca Mora, Spanish mayor of Porreres, isn’t so sure. According to The New York Post, Mora told a local paper that the artwork looks exactly like her Mallorcan town’s official seal and she is trying to find a way to request a possible logo change with the Duchess of Sussex’s team. Fingers crossed the debut of Markle’s upcoming Netflix series goes smoother.
If you also jumped on the Suits bandwagon, oh, four years too late, good news: You can actually watch the wildly popular legal drama in real time — thanks to NBC’s Suits LA (set a reminder for 9 pm ET tonight). Unlike the original, which focused on hot-shot corporate lawyers in NYC, the West Coast spin-off centers around — you guessed it — Hollywood lawyers. Specifically, fast-talking, highly confident Ted Black (Stephen Amell), who represents some of the entertainment industry’s biggest stars at the firm he started with his best friend Stuart Lane (Josh McDermitt). Add to that two very ambitious (and very attractive) protégés, what’s been described as “Entourage meets Mad Men” vibes, and the return of fan-favorite character Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) — and, well, we rest our case.
What YSL Touche Éclat does for your under eyes, this does for your nails. The universally flattering formula delivers a sheer but buildable wash of color that conceals imperfections, like white streaks or unevenness. Plus, it’s made with optical brighteners (to neutralize discoloration), ultra-fine light reflecting particles (to impart a healthy glow), and nourishing ingredients, like chamomile extract and vitamin E, so it’s ideal if your nails need some rehab after, say, one too many gel manicures. But the best part? You don’t need a base or top coat, and it literally dries in minutes.
