EDITOR’S NOTE

Happy Sunday. I’ll admit, I’m not a Halloween person — but if I was, I would’ve recreated Hailey and Justin Bieber’s matchy-matchy, Matrix-coded look this weekend (though, no one does couple dressing better than Zendaya and Tom Holland). Instead, I did other things: I tried the extremely buzzy “contrast makeup theory,” which, I attest, lives up to the hype. But I can’t say the same for the under-eye blush trend (I don’t know what it was, but it wasn’t “indie sleaze meets coquette”). I also redecorated, inspired by a surprisingly good design trend: chainmail decor (trust me, it looks nothing like Medieval Times). And I caught up on the WAGs of the 2024 World Series and the story behind the viral Texas breakup song (the Instagram comments should be required reading). Now, after all that, I’m off to attempt these therapist-approved tips for feeling less tired come Monday. Wish me luck. (Want more health and wellness content? Deeply important information

Martha Stewart

Folks, we didn’t think it was possible, but Martha Stewart has officially out-Martha’d herself. While America’s patron saint of domesticity has never hidden her zero-f*cks-given attitude (remember when she boldly declared mugs were “clumsy and ugly”?), she’s taken things to another, even more ridiculous level while on the press circuit for her upcoming documentary. Leading up to its release, the 83-year-old Queen of Sultry Thirst Traps (see: this Audrey Hepburn-inspired look) has dropped some bombshells. That includes the viral clip where she admits to cheating on her first husband (keeping it a secret was allegedly “very easy”) and new details about her time at Alderson Federal Prison Camp, aka Camp Cupcake, like when she was “dragged” into solitary confinement for “touching an officer.” Plus, Stewart shared her Halloween costume (we look forward to Buckingham Palace’s response), all the things she does care about (we never would’ve guessed she was so invested in Moo Deng), and the iconic reason why she’ll never go on The Golden Bachelorette (Joan has thoughts).

This is hardly the first time Stewart has surprised fans with her fiery hot takes (never forget when she came for Blake Lively’s “stupid” website, shaded Gwyneth Paltrow, or beefed with Bethenny Frankel). What is surprising, though? Her decision to kick off her press circuit on the heels of Ina Garten’s equally meme-worthy memoir tour. Purely coincidental? Maybe. But the timing raises eyebrows, especially given the headlines about what they both claim isn’t a feud. And while Stewart was all smiles at the documentary’s premiere, she reportedly isn’t happy with how it came out, according to The Daily Beast. (Among her complaints? The director “refused to change anything” and focused too much on “my stupid trial.”) But the good news for Stewart is that she may have a second chance to get her story right: Netflix has apparently asked her to do another film. In which case, Martha, we eagerly await your directorial debut. After all, if you want something done right, it’s best to do it yourself.

Items from Goop’s annual holiday gift guides

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: Goop’s annual holiday gift guides have arrived — and they are perhaps the most absurd yet. While we thought nothing could top 2020’s leather watermelon bag (which, as the name implies, is a tote exclusively for carrying watermelons) or 2021’s $10,500 Chanel sled (you know, in case it suddenly starts snowing in LA), they do feature a staggering $182,996.48 worth of items. Highlights include: a $3,900 “apartment-friendly” sauna (because apartment dwellers obviously have the extra square footage), an $8,520 bathroom vanity (who do you even give that to?), a $350 tennis ball holder (worth noting: tennis balls not included), and a 3-foot, $3,800 gong (perfect for announcing dinner). And it wouldn’t be a Goop gift guide unless there was a slew of, uh, sexy gifts — ranging from a $55 roll of restraint tape to a $195 sex pillow (it supposedly “looks right at home on your bed when you’re not using it”) to 11 (yes, 11) vibrators. Gwyneth, you sure keep the holidays interesting.

Jeff Hiller and Bridget Everett in Somebody Somewhere

We’re not in the business of giving out awards, but if we were, Somebody Somewhere would easily win TV’s Most Tender Series. For the unfamiliar, the critically acclaimed, semi-autobiographical HBO dramedy follows 40-something Sam (Bridget Everett) as she returns to her hometown of Manhattan, Kansas, to care for her parents after losing a sister. Now, as the deeply endearing show returns for its third and final season (set a reminder for 10:30 pm ET tonight), Sam is finally feeling settled — thanks in part to her new job as a bartender, her delightful platonic soul mate Joel (Jeff Hiller), her community of music-loving outsiders, and her sister Tricia (Mary Catherine Garrison). Expect plenty of laugh-out-loud funny moments, big-hearted musical performances, perfect best friend chemistry, and some tear-jerking scenes in what’s been described as “exceptional television.”

What's the cardigan we like again?
H&M Knit Cardigan

H&M Knit Cardigan

Every fall, we’re faced with the same dilemma: Where can we get an affordable — but not cheap-looking — cardigan that won’t pill, pull, or fall apart in the wash? We’re happy to report that we’ve finally found the answer with this one from H&M. According to one of our editors, who’s worn it several times a week since September, the $25, super soft sweater ticks all the boxes: It still looks good as new; it’s just the right weight (read: warm enough for when temperatures drop dramatically at night, but light enough that she doesn’t sweat on unexpectedly warm days); and it has a flattering hint of stretch. It’s so good, in fact, that her cousin, a professional stylist, asked if it came from a certain designer known for $200-plus knitwear.
