That is why Dallas Theological Seminary offers three doctoral degrees to help you pursue higher scholarship and deeper theological training to strengthen the church and its ministry.


  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D):
    Engage in scholarly research and teaching. This degree program combines the highest of standards of academic scholarship with a heart for God’s Word, theology and the church. The ministry goals are for students to communicate effectively through writing and teaching as well as to demonstrate the necessary ability and integrity for Christian ministry.

  • Doctor of Education (Ed.D):
    Equipped for academic leadership. The purpose of this degree is to develop Christian educators who are currently in or plan to pursue administrative leadership roles in K-12 or higher-education institutions.?This program integrate biblical and theological framework with educational theories and practices related to academic leadership, teaching, and student development.

  • Doctor of Educational Ministry (D.EdMin):
    Enhance servant-leadership in the educational or pastoral context. Our highest professional degree is for those engaged in local church and para-church ministries, world missions, and similar educational ministries. The program concentrates on developing expertise in biblical rationale, sociological strategy, and practical ministry implementation.

  • Doctor of Ministry (D.Min):
    Excel as a more effective practitioner. This degree focuses on advanced training in the practice of biblically and theologically oriented ministry to those actively involved in vocational or bi-vocational ministry. Our Ministry Leadership track is designed to equip students for ministry effectiveness in their respective areas of leadership.


Additionally, DTS also offers the Master of Sacred Theology (STM) degree as a postgraduate program for those seeking further theological training in preparation for doctoral studies or other Christian service.
