A Major Fashion Makeover

The Story

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is prepping for Prime time

The Angels are back?

Sort of. After a four-year hiatus, the fashion spectacle (now called “The Victoria’s Secret World Tour”) will strut onto Prime Video — with a new look. Meaning, Swarovski-crystal covered wings and blinged-out bras may not make their usual appearance. Instead, the part documentary, part fashion event will spotlight “a new generation” of global creatives and their designs, which will be worn by a diverse cast of models. It’s part of the brand’s larger makeover, emphasizing female empowerment. That also included recruiting a notable group of women, such as Megan Rapinoe and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, to help advise the company. And expanding into mastectomy bras and adaptive fashion. But not everyone is sold.

Walk me through it.

In case you missed last year’s Hulu docuseries, a quick refresh: In 2019, when VS brought the curtain down on its old show, it did so amid a wave of not-so-secret controversies — including alleged bullying and harassment, cultural appropriation, and a lack of diversity and inclusion. All of which may have contributed to its ratings drop and sluggish sales. Not to mention, the whole Jeffrey Epstein connection. Now, as the show stages its comeback, it also faces steeper competition from brands like Savage X Fenty, SKIMS, and Aerie, which emphasized inclusivity and comfort from the get-go. Still, Victoria’s Secret is the largest lingerie retailer in the US. And hopes are, with a revamped show, it’ll strike a new pose.

What's Happening

🙃 In adulting…

Got a few hours before your next thing? Instead of daydreaming about your Roman Empire — or worse, getting stuck in “waiting mode” — consider rucking. After all, two-a-days aren’t just for athletes, apparently.

🍿 In snacks...

Pringles is taking a chip at #CaviarTok with a fresh collab. That’s as McDonald’s is once again spicing things up. And as Starbucks Refreshers may need a, well, refresh. Fingers crossed the dome lids are next.

✈️ In travel…

If you’re already planning your next vacay, check out the world’s best hotels. Who knows, maybe your workplace will foot the bill. Speaking of, if you’re running low on PTO, schedule a workcation. Just make sure to BYO Diet Coke and other must-haves.
