More To Love

The Story

Open relationships are getting a bit more, well, open.

We’re talking about polycules, right?

Polycules, throuples, quads, moresomes — you name it. That may be easier than ever, since convos about consensual or ethical non-monogamy (which includes everything from polyamory to swingers) are popping up seemingly everywhere. Maybe your group chats have been flooded with buzzy headlines, in-depth guides, and extremely candid books. Or, you’ve seen it on shows like “Riverdale” and “Succession” (don’t miss Peacock’s upcoming “Couple To Throuple”). Not to mention, everyone from TikTokers to celebs like Whoopi Goldberg and Janelle Monáe are talking about it.

Why now?

For starters, it’s become less taboo: Fifty-one percent of 18- to 29-year-olds in a survey last year said open marriage was “acceptable,” while 20% of Americans have apparently been in a consensual non-monogamous relationship at some point. Plus, dating apps have made it easier for poly people or those merely curious to find like-minded users. That includes Feeld, but also Tinder and Hinge, which allow people to designate their “relationship type.” And it helps that at least one city (looking at you, Somerville, MA) has passed laws to protect the rights of people in polyamorous relationships. That’s inspired other cities to consider similar ordinances — though, there’s still a very long way to go.

For a growing number of Americans, three’s no longer a crowd — but perhaps a sign of modern love.

What's Happening

🍷 In food…

Hate grocery shopping? Check out the 6-to-1 method. If that fails, you could always give chip dinners a dip. Meanwhile, the name on everyone’s lips — literally and figuratively — is Josh. Plus, Subway’s footlong menu is getting even longer.

👗 In fashion…

If Ayo Edebiri’s impeccable style has you rethinking your own wardrobe (ditto), consider the 75 Hard Style Challenge. Or, get inspired by Carmela Soprano’s closet. Just keep in mind: Logos are apparently out, while texture is in. Don’t believe us? Check Substack

🙃 In adulting…

In not-so-surprising news, workplace wellness programs aren’t getting the job done. But if you want to level up your fitness game, VR might be the play. Oh and confused why your kid is calling you “bruh?” Or what to do about Stanley cup bullying? Perhaps a parent coach can help.
