Weekly Epidemiological Update
5 October
Globally, the number of new weekly cases decreased by 6% during the week of 26 September to 2 October 2022, as compared to the previous week, with over 2.9 million new cases reported. The number of new weekly deaths decreased by 12%, as compared to the previous week, with just over 8300 fatalities reported.
As of 2 October 2022, 615 million confirmed cases and 6.5 million deaths have been reported globally.

WHO Emergency Appeal: Health crisis in flood-affected Pakistan
Pakistan is on the verge of a public health disaster as a result of the massive monsoon rainfalls and unprecedented levels of flooding that are affecting 33 million people across the country.
The risk of disease outbreaks is extremely high and malnutrition rates are rising.
WHO requires US$81.5 million to respond to this health crisis in flood-affected Pakistan, to ensure a coordinated delivery of essential health care services, efficient management of severe acute malnutrition, and stronger outbreak detection and control.
