23 November 2022 Your key COVID-19 report Weekly Epidemiological Update23 NovemberGlobally, the number of new weekly cases decreased by 5% during the week of 14 to 20 November 2022, as compared to the previous week, with over 2.4 million new cases reported. The number of new weekly deaths decreased by 13%, as compared to the previous week, with about 7800 fatalities reported. Canada contributes more than US$ 11 million to vaccine manufacturing in the Americas RegionCanada will contribute US$ 11.2 million to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Regional Platform to Advance the Manufacturing of COVID-19 Vaccines and other Health Technologies in the Americas, an initiative launched in 2021 to increase vaccine production capacities in Latin America and the Caribbean. WHO Emergency Appeal: Ebola Disease Outbreak in UgandaWhen Uganda declared an Ebola outbreak on 20 September 2022 in the central part of the country, WHO’s response was based on lessons learned from previous outbreaks in the region, with national authorities focused on rapidly containing the outbreak and preventing it from spreading. WHO's appeal for US$ 88.2 million will help reduce death and illness, with minimum disruption to the country’s social and health systems.
