Medium | Here's the fascinating first-hand report from the security researcher who found (and reported) a vulnerability to Panera Bread that allowed the full name, home address, email address, food/dietary preferences, username, phone number, birthday, and last four digits of a saved credit card to be accessed in bulk for any user that had ever signed up for an account. "Panera Bread sat on the vulnerability and, as far as I can tell, did nothing about it for eight months," he writes. Engadget | URL shorteners can be both useful and fun. Google's take on the tech launched in 2009, and added a third-party API, the ability to create QR codes, and the power to link right to iOS and Android apps. Even Keanu Reeves has a URL shortener named in his honor. Unfortunately, Google is replacing its own service, goo.gl, with Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL) as of April 13th.
CNET | Heads up: If you bought plane tickets from Delta, tools from Sears, or household goods from Kmart between Sep. 26 and Oct. 12 last year — and you did it online — your name, address, and credit card numbers may have been exposed at those companies' websites. A piece of malware temporarily residing in their online chat service — a chat service provided by [24]7.ai — may have harvested your payment info after you completed a transaction.
