Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for Thursday, Oct. 31. Happy Halloween! The month of October has been a scary one for the Saints, but they received some good news this week. Let's get to it. Carr returnsGood news, Saints fans. Derek Carr is trending toward a return to the field. The veteran quarterback, who missed the past three games with an oblique injury, practiced on Wednesday and all signs point to him starting against the Panthers on Sunday. Sidelined startersSeveral Saints regulars were not present at practice on Wednesday, including a pair of key defensive starters in the secondary. Luke Johnson has the full injury report. QB callThe Saints learned they won't face an old friend this week after all. The Panthers announced their starting quarterback for Sunday's game, and it's not former Saints backup Andy Dalton. Luke Johnson has the story. Benson 'concerned' Are you curious about how Saints owner Gayle Benson is feeling about the team's six-game losing streak? Well, general manager Mickey Loomis provided some insight about Benson's state of mind on his weekly radio show, saying she "feels bad" and is "obviously concerned" about how things are going on the field. "She wants to know how we are working towards a solution," Loomis said. D-lightful memoriesThis week's installment of my "25 for 25" series focuses on the best defensive plays of the past 25 years. Spoiler alert: The list is dominated by plays from the 2009 Super Bowl season. I had fun with this one. I hope you enjoy it. That's it for today. We'll have more news and analysis throughout the week as the Saints prepare their game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Until next time.... Cheers, Jeff Duncan |
