2018 Florida League All-Star Game
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Sanford, the West All-Star team (Leesburg, Winter Garden, Winter Park) defeated the East All-Stars (DeLand, Sanford, Seminole) by a score of 4-2. Lightning outfielder Wes Weeks (UNF) was named the All-Star Game MVP.
Home Run Derby
It took an extra round to determine the winner, but in the end, Joe Burke of Kentucky Wesleyan University and the DeLand Suns was crowned the 2018 Florida League Home Run Derby Champion on Sunday afternoon.
Week 6 Recap
Winter Garden is making a push for the top of the standings, while the Lightning dropped their first series of the season to Sanford.
Player of the Week
Aaron Anderson of Flagler College tallied six hits in three games last week, and leads the League in hitting with an impressive .423 average!
Pitcher of the Week
Ronny Hinton went the distance in game one of a doubleheader, shutting out the Seminole County Scorpions over seven innings. His seven strikeouts were a season high.
