Last week many of us were complaining it was too hot and now we are confronted with wind, rain and generally the kind of weather we’d expect in November. But then it is the school holidays ... A virtual office conversation this week led us to the conclusion that anyone who takes their annual break during those six weeks when the schools are closed is destined to see the storm clouds gather. But to put a positive spin on it, rainy British weather on holiday is character-building and creates memories which stay with us for decades. And after years of being able to jet off to warmer climes, many are staying closer to home for fear of finding themselves being forced to quarantine on their return. In fact, it’s all a bit like the 1960s ... and who doesn’t love a bit of nostalgia. Tightening the tent pegs? Playing snap in a rain-blasted caravan? Sign me up.
