Time Out No. #81 | Tuesday 26 October 2021

First thing’s first: everyone is going to dress as that ‘Squid Game’ guy, so you’re going to need another costume. Some fresh recommendations for you: Chris Whitty looking grave-faced; a big ball of ice from ‘The Terror’; a normal pint of beer that somehow costs seven bloody pounds. Whatever your plans are for October 31, Time Out has you covered. Massive parties, quirky events, kids’ stuff, pumpkins, film screeningsweird food. As we said, covered.

The most original and affecting Korean horror film for absolutely ages. Lovely scenes of shamanic ritual. Also features granite-faced actor Jun Kunimura, which is always a good thing. Amazon Prime.

Director Robert Eggers properly kicked the doors down with this, his debut feature. A shivering, benighted film that really gets you in among the fear and mud of seventeenth-century America. Strong goat performance. YouTube.

Yeah, I know everyone else prefers the famous follow-up ‘Midsommar’, but this was way better. Just a general air of malevolence and, crucially, a satisfying ending which stayed with me. Hail Satan! Netflix.

A food festival featuring live music and menus by top Michelin-starred and award-winning chefs like Ravinder Bhogal, The Great Feast will happen in the space directly above the iconic department store between November 11 and December 18.

Did you know that a magic-wielding witch in Charing Cross helped defeat the Nazis? Kind of. We’ve rounded up eight lesser-known (but still extremely significant) witches from the capital’s history. Big up all sorcerers.

‘Oh, he’s dead like you wouldn’t believe.’
