Millennial and Gen Z nurses cite team dynamics, professional growth opportunities, and flexible scheduling as important factors in the work environment as part of a new study.
Monday, February 10, 2020

"We've seen a big shift in our demographics now for about the last four years. We went from the millennials and the Gen Z being the minority in our employee population, particularly our nursing group, to now they're the majority." — Jane Englebright, PhD, RN CENP, FAAN, senior vice president and chief nurse executive at HCA Healthcare.

We've heard it before. Those millennials just aren't like baby boomer nurses. They switch organizations after a few years. They all want to become nurse practitioners. And on and on.

I've often heard nurse executives say they just can't get a handle on what young nurses want. As you'll see in this issue's feature story, leaders at HCA Healthcare decided to go straight to the source – its millennial and Gen Z nurses – to find out. The study's results and HCA's CNE's insights are all in the article. It's a good one. Don't miss it.
