An expat Bitcoiner in Portugal, Holly Young, is working to educate merchants in the area on how to use the Lightning Network to accept Bitcoin payments.
She held a workshop in Monchique, a mountain town in the Algarve region, to teach merchants and small business owners about the benefits of Bitcoin. The attendees were interested in eliminating credit card fees and having the correct change, which is a source of stress in the market.
Despite some initial resistance, several merchants have reached out for follow-up sessions. The goal is to connect the merchants with the Bitcoin community and vice versa.
