At the height of the Black Summer bushfires, Emily Townsend burned her bridges.
On the last day of a job at News Corp, where she’d worked for five years, she wrote an all-staff email explaining why she was leaving.
And she made sure it was addressed to everyone, including the chairman and every last executive.
"I find it unconscionable to continue working for this company, knowing I am contributing to the spread of climate change denial and lies."
It made headlines around the world at the time – but what happened next?
Emily tells the full story in
the first episode of WHO’S GONNA SAVE US?, a new podcast from triple j Hack and RN’s Science team.
For more great listening this weekend, catch up on Earshot’s latest series of audio postcards from across the country.
These stories will take you
from Elizabeth on the arid edge of Adelaide, where ghosts of Holden cars and electric guitars haunt the streets,
to the small town of Yirrkala in Arnhem Land that Siena Stubbs calls home.
And – have we finally reached the point where we can reimagine the relationship between work and life?
Hear more on this episode of The Minefield, where Scott Stephens and Waleed Aly speak to author Jonathan Malesic.
Enjoy your weekend,
