In anticipation of a decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization at the U.S. Supreme Court we believe there is a reason to hope.
The New Yorker declared, "The Supreme Court Looks Ready to Overturn Roe v. Wade."
Those who support a culture of abortion have indicated that they too feel the end of Roe could be near. And make no mistake, they are preparing to take their advocacy to the states, where it will matter next.
The president and CEO of Planned Parenthood had this to say, "The threat to abortion access, from the Gulf Coast to the Supreme Court, is more dangerous than anything we have seen in nearly half a century."
Meanwhile, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America, Mini Timmaraju, said, "An anti-choice supermajority of justices is determined to overturn Roe v. Wade. Reproductive freedom is on the chopping block â Abortion access in Mississippi and around the country is on the line."
Abortion advocates know that Roe is on the chopping block. It's only a matter of time.
And if so, justice will be served. The so-called "right to abortion" is an invented right that can't be found in the Constitution. But, more importantly, it's a moral travesty. It's the intentional killing of an innocent human being, and it's antithetical to America's foundational respect for life. And Roe puts the United States in the company of genocidal regimes like China and North Korea â two other countries where abortion is allowed up to birth. What happens if Roe is overturned?
For Roe to be overturned would be a significant victory for human life. And Dobbs makes that future possible. But the fight for life will not be over when that happens. The venue simply changes. While several states have enshrined abortion into their state laws, the issue of abortion will return to the states, where they will now have the opportunity to protect life. However, other states have done the opposite, clarifying that no "right to abortion" can be found in their state constitutions.
