Harnessing A.I. for Education

Back to school list: pencils, notebook, and…ChatGPT? Many educators are questioning the role that artificial intelligence should play in school. How do we balance concerns over cheating and plagiarism with the potential for greater access to tutoring and personalized learning? Sal Khan, founder of the online educational platform Khan Academy, is confident that A.I. can be used effectively to level the educational playing field. This spring, his organization launched Khanmigo, a generative artificial intelligence tool made specifically for learning. Khan talks to Mehran Sahami, the head of Stanford’s computer science department, about this new tool and why he thinks it’s such an exciting time in education.

Having both survived cancer and lost loved ones to the disease, tennis legend Chris Evert and media icon Katie Couric are on a mission to educate others about screenings and early detection. “Anytime you feel anything different in your body, go to the doctor,” says Evert. Oncologist Lisa Newman joins their conversation to shed light on the latest breakthroughs in fighting this disease that has claimed so many lives.
