April 6, 2022

Greetings! Last week, I attended Delta's preview of their new headhouse at LAX but forgot to link the story for you. This week, I was back at LAX but this time in T7 to attend a unique, limited-time experience in the United Club Lounges. Now through Friday, April 8 from 2pm to 7pm, they're serving up tasty signature, travel-themed drinks for United Club members to enjoy at LAX, DEN, EWR, IAD, IAH, ORD and SFO. All Club guests 21 and over can get a complimentary drink such as an Italian Paloma or a vodka-based Destination Unknown. My buddy and TV host Josh Gates would love the latter.

What is JetBlue Thinking?
If you receive my daily travel tip newsletter, then you know I've been ragging on a few airlines for the way they mishandled their operations this past weekend. Specifically JetBlue since my sister has been in the middle of that debacle since Friday and still hasn't been able to get home so I have firsthand knowledge of her experience. Now, JetBlue just announced expanding to London and put in a $3.6 billion bid for Spirit Airlines, throwing a huge wrench into Spirit's plans to merge with Frontier. JetBlue's customers would have welcomed this news if it weren't for what happened this past weekend. If JetBlue doesn't have enough staff to maintain their own operations and stranded thousands of customers without paying for their hotel rooms, then how do you think they're going to feel when they hear the news?  And that's not all.... You'll never believe how JetBlue's CEO traveled from New York to Boston yesterday. Like I said: What is JetBlue thinking?

But that's what's been happening to travelers across the country this weekend. If you were traveling and were caught up in the chaos or if you're traveling anytime soon, these tips will help you reach an agent more quickly. Read the story here

Today's Travel Tip
We're All Done With Covid But Covid Isn't Done With Us - Here Are 3 Things You Should Still Do
I know, I know. We’re all sick of hearing about Covid, reading about Covid and dedicating any more brain space to Covid. Unfortunately, just because we’re done with Covid doesn’t mean that Covid is done with us. In fact, British Airways just canceled 78 flights today due to staff being sick with COVID. If you’re planning to travel (and even if you’re not), there are a variety of ways to mitigate your risk. Here are 3 things we should still be paying doing and paying attention to, to keep ourselves and our communities safe.

Get all the details here before it's too late!

Travel Product:
Revlon Hair Dryer Brush
We've shared this product a few times before but I'm sharing it again for a few reasons. First, it's a reader favorite. PLUS: It's 42% off today so if you've been on the fence about it, today's deal might be just what you were waiting for. It's also mentioned in today's travel tip because if you're looking to streamline your packing, this all-in-one hair tool means you can leave your bulky hairbrush, hair dryer and flat iron at home and just bring this. Lastly, it makes a great Mother's Day gift if you want to get a jump start. My wife absolutely loves hers. Read her review here.

Travel Tweet of the Day
-ZachGriff: Competition works. @AlaskaAir just (quietly) lowered the cost of inflight Wi-Fi to $8.
The $8 price point might ring a bell - that's the exact same amount that United now charges for domestic flights.
Now it's your turn to lower prices, American!

Hawaii Trip Reports
I recently returned from 10 days in Hawaii with my family. To get there, we flew on one of United’s plush 777-300 in business class. We spent the first four nights at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and the last five nights at the Ritz-Carlton Waikiki. To get home, we flew economy on one of Hawaiian Airlines’ widebody A330 planes, which you can read about here >> Here’s my HNL-LAX trip report.
