Howdy investors!

JP Morgan's CEO Jamie Dimon was famous for his disdain for the entire blockchain industry.

How times change.

Today, we look into J.P. Morgan and their new JPM Coin. While you can't buy JPM yet, it signals exciting developments in fintech and transaction processing (and you can always invest in $JPM stock).

Arthur Hayes also predicts the next bull run in crypto, which he expects to benefit from a bull market in fiat liquidity and AI technology.

One area that has grown despite a flat crypto market is tokenizing real-world assets. This has been driven by a notable increase in demand for products offering off-chain yields via on-chain methods.

Finally, we highlight the data showing the so-called "bitcoin dominance." While the Ethereum ecosystem continues growing, there's been a trend toward a preference for bitcoin.

What Is JPM Coin and How Do You Buy It?

by Daniel Joel

Investor Takeaway: The introduction of JPM Coin signifies a significant step in blockchain adoption within the financial sector. The coin's success in facilitating many transactions in a short span indicates a positive reception among institutional clients. Additionally, J.P. Morgan's exploration into new blockchain-based offerings suggests a continued commitment to innovate, presenting potential future opportunities for investors keen on blockchain and digital currency advancements. The investor opportunity is to buy $JPM stock.

There's a question among banking and fintech companies about how blockchain can help facilitate transactions in better, faster ways. J.P. Morgan has thrown its hat into this ring with the JPM Coin.

The JPM Coin is a blockchain-powered stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar, designed to facilitate instant payments. In 2023, the coin expanded to support euro transactions, with a reported $300 billion in transactions since its launch.

This isn't a "coin," as we normally understand it, because investors can't buy it on the market. It's currently limited to institutional users exchanging between crypto, the U.S. dollar, and (more recently) the Euro.

While some question the coin's necessity, comparing it to existing bank payment processes, others see it as a faster, more efficient alternative to systems like SWIFT. J.P. Morgan has also hinted at a potential new blockchain-based deposit token, pending regulatory approval. In today's piece, we'll explain what this means for crypto investors.

Today's most important stories for crypto investors.

Double Happiness (Medium)

Investor takeaway: BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes anticipates a unique bull market in the crypto world, driven by an upcoming surge in fiat liquidity and artificial intelligence (AI) commercialization. Historically, crypto bull markets have been influenced by either increased fiat liquidity or advancements in blockchain technology, but never both simultaneously. According to Hayes, this upcoming bull market will bring "Double Happiness" for investors.

We've talked about the relationship between AI and crypto in terms of trends, and this take from Hayes resonates. Investors who have kept steady may see significant returns on their investments due to the onset of AI and crypto springs.

Overview of On-Chain RWAs and the Forces Propelling Their Growth (Galaxy)

Investor takeaway: In 2023, Real-World Assets (RWAs) within decentralized finance (DeFi) experienced a significant surge, reaching $2.5 billion by September 30.

As traditional yields became more appealing due to rising interest rates and a crypto downturn, investors showed reduced interest in crypto-based yields. Notably, yield-bearing assets like Treasuries, real estate, and private credit dominated this growth. Despite this uptrend, the market cap of tokenized RWAs remains 9.6% below its peak in Spring 2022.

Tokenized RWAs are still an exciting prospect, however, and this report is a must-read on this asset class.

ETH Slumps To 15-Month Low Against BTC (The Defiant)

Investor takeaway: Ether is trading at its lowest point in 15 months compared to bitcoin. Some investors blame the decline on several factors, including speculation that regulators will soon approve a bitcoin ETF and the 2024 halving event. Despite the promise of Ethereum's "Merge" creating a deflationary Ethereum, the recent month saw inflation in Ether for the first time since the transition.

Many are still bullish on Ethereum, and in particular for the Layer-2 ecosystem fueling blockchain projects. On the flip side, data shows Ethereum whales have been dumping Ether since February, with no indication of accumulation beginning yet. It's usually a bad idea to go against the crowd, so investors may consider keeping ETH underweight for now.
