Good morning, Welcome to your Friday newsletter from The Scotsman. We've almost made it to the weekend. More than half of all schools in Scotland reported at least one positive case of Covid-19 among pupils in the first two weeks of term, new figures show. A freedom of information request submitted to Public Health Scotland (PHS) shows that 1,455 schools in Scotland recorded a positive case between August 16 and August 27, the first two weeks of term – 58.7% of all schools. Currency choices It's a question which is always been apart of Scotland's constitutional debate: What would be the currency of an independent Scotland? The Government in an independent Scotland could have to consider either tax rises or spending cuts “before too long” no matter which currency option was adopted after the leaving the UK, a think tank has warned. The Institute for Government has published new reports looking at the currency and borrowing options that could be available, should Scotland become independent.
