The best time of day to submit a job application is early in the morning -- or overnight so it is seen by the person hiring when they begin their day, according to a TalentWorks analysis. The time of day that is least effective is 7:30 p.m., as the work day ends.

The Landscape
When policymakers in Colorado passed a law in 2019 that called for companies to include an hourly or salary compensation range in all job postings, they had no idea how much the world would change by the time the law took effect at the beginning of this year. With remote work now opening up job opportunities far and wide, some companies are excluding candidates based in Colorado. Why? Because by disqualifying Colorado residents (or requiring them to relocate as a condition of employment), companies can skirt the law that requires them to reveal compensation information in job listings.

About 2.7% of drug tests were positive for marijuana in 2020, up from 2.5% in 2019 and 2% in 2016, according to testing firm Quest. Currently, 17 states have legalized marijuana in some form, prompting many businesses to drop marijuana from their drug testing panels.
