Deer Run clears final hurdle as Livingston Parish, developer reach deal

A judgment by a federal judge on Friday allows the Deer Run subdivision to move forward in Livingston Parish and prevents the parish government from enforcing any present or future ordinances that would impede the development.

The settlement does call for Ascension Properties Inc. to reduce the planned 2,023 single-family residential lots to allow "at most" 1,881.

When Hurricane Beryl flooded Houston on July 8 and then swept into Louisiana as a tropical storm, Gov. Jeff Landry was beginning a weeklong vacation in Europe with his wife and three other couples.
