Home buyers in Manhattan and many other markets across the U.S. are putting searches on hold and being choosier about pricing as the housing market cools and the fear of missing out on buying a house before prices spike further dissipates. "You get people going into paralysis or simply taking a moment to recalibrate and say to themselves, 'What do I need to do?'" said Frances Katzen, an agent with Douglas Elliman.
