Dear Edutopia community,

What a year 2024 has been! On average, we tallied nearly 2 million engagements on our channels each month, many of them comments from educators like you offering wisdom, advice, and feedback. Our stories were shared a million times over, and saved 700,000 times for future reference. Wow!

To close out the calendar year, we’d like to honor the significant contributions our community is making every day. To do so, we examined what you praised, discussed, and critiqued. We also rounded up the stories and quotes you shared most with your colleagues because they resonated with you.

Among the standout themes we tracked: why kids aren’t reading books; how states are drawing the line on cell phones in class; and finally, some hopeful news about teen mental health. You were also buzzing about the best desk layouts, rethinking AI in classrooms, and teacher bathroom breaks (hint: you’re still not getting them!). We invite you to look back at these stories and more by clicking the button below. After you read, please share your thoughts and feedback in the comments—our team reads every single one.

With thanks for all you do,
