More countries are currently involved in conflicts than have been since the end of World War II, according to Karima Bennoune, a professor of international law at University of Michigan Law School.
“We’re living in an era characterized by a resurgence of dangerous international armed conflicts, all of which have a terrible impact on women in many regions,” she said.
A symposium was held in West Valley City Thursday that explored how women reach across faith and geographical divides to build bridges.

Here are some highlights:
🐮 Livestock learning lab: Children can learn to properly milk the farm's cow Peggy.
🌱 A 40-foot-tall alfalfa climber: Kids can engage in a physical challenge by climbing a 40-foot-tall alfalfa structure.

There are occasions when two Capitol Hill lawmakers from opposite sides of the aisle come together for the common good. And it happened this week.
Who: Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Republican Utah Rep. John Curtis offered each other support on two bills aimed at streamlining the permitting process for geothermal energy.
The Geothermal Energy Opportunity (GEO) Act: A bill sponsored by Rep. Curtis that aims to address delays by the Department of the Interior in authorizing project permits.
A related bill that expands the Geothermal Steam Act of 1970: This bill is sponsored by Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and seeks to require geothermal leaseholders to reimburse the Department of Interior for any fees incurred during the application process, site inspection and monitoring.
“Geothermal energy is an affordable, reliable and clean energy source,” Curtis said.
