About the Editor
Kanoe Namahoe 2022
Kanoe Namahoe
I've been a fan of football since my teens. I used to watch games on Sundays with my dad and he got me into college football when I entered adulthood. Then my nephews started playing and I began following their teams. The game fascinates me. I always thought I would have enjoyed playing it. (I would have been a linebacker; I think I would have been good at the pass rush.)

So I rejoice alongside the female football players in Southern California who are celebrating the California Interscholastic Federation's vote yesterday that made flag football an official girls' high-school sport. Football has grown in popularity among girls and it's wonderful to see them have a way to enjoy the sport and make it their own.

And they are. Girls across the country, like Kaleigh Patterson, are lighting up the field and creating their own legacies. They're carving out a new era in women's sports and creating pathways others will be able to follow.

This is progress and I'm pleased to see it. One day these young girls will enter the professional workforce. They will have learned toughness and risk and be accustomed to pioneering new ideas. And our businesses and organizations will be better for it.

Who Said It?

The things you think are the disasters in your life are not the disasters really. Almost anything can be turned around: out of every ditch, a path, if you can only see it.
