EDITOR

Dear Reader,

It was a wedding so secret that even Downing Street insiders had no idea it was coming. The nuptials of Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds were the first of a sitting prime minister in 200 years, yet every effort was made to ensure they were kept under wraps. Now, however, we can reveal the full details of the day and the “festival-themed” party that followed in the Downing Street rose garden.

A glance at Stephen Graham’s filmography shows him to be an established Hollywood star, yet he’s just as at home on Britain’s small screen. Ahead of the broadcast of his new drama, Time, on BBC One, Graham spoke to Katie Glass about staying modest, keeping his ties to Liverpool and dealing with depression. It’s a lovely read.

The Telegraph has long campaigned for a replacement for the Royal Yacht Britannia, an effort that was finally rewarded last week with the news that a new yacht is finally to be commissioned. Central to our campaign has been Christopher Hope, who writes here on why the naysayers and ridiculers missed the point entirely.

With house prices soaring and homes selling in the blink of an eye, upsizing has never been more difficult, even as the pandemic has made extra space all the more appealing. Yet there might be a simpler solution. Jenny Tucker meets the families who’ve transformed their homes with an extension, and made money in the process.
