Those elements are certainly important, but we shouldn't glaze over the massive undertaking of transferring inmates from one location to another. In order to safely transfer nearly 2,500 inmates from Draper to Salt Lake City, the Utah Department of Corrections received assistance from a dozen other agencies. The operation took five days, and the inmates were transported via buses, vans and cars this past week. “I cannot thank our staff enough for their professionalism and dedication during this historic event,” Brian Nielson, executive director of the UDOC, said in a statement. | At the end of the House select Jan. 6 committee's last hearing, Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney alleged that former President Donald Trump contacted a witness that has yet to testify before the panel. “After our last hearing, President Trump tried to call a witness in our investigation — a witness you have not yet seen in these hearings. That person declined to answer or respond to President Trump’s call and instead alerted their lawyer to the call,” Rep. Cheney said. Utah Sen. Mitt Romney commented on the allegation, saying that the claim was “very serious.” Although there is talk of the possibility that Trump accidentally made the phone call to the witness, Sen. Romney dismissed the likelihood of that scenario. “I can’t imagine why he’d have a witness on his cellphone, making a pocket-dial, so that’s not terribly credible," Romney said.
