Dear CHAC Community,

Fall is here and it is time for families to start preparing for Dia de Los Muertos in all the ways that are special to them.  At CHAC, Dia de Los Muertos celebrations start October 2nd with a La Llorona celebration at Corky Gonzales DPL. CHAC is proud to continue their annual Dia de Los Muertos celebrations and to be among one of Denver’s earliest organizations dedicated to this ancient Mexican custom. Join us as we remember our loved ones who have passed on. Let us celebrate the lives of those who inspired and nurtured us with "Recuerdos 2021". We have events throughout the metro area, allowing the community to celebrate in different spaces. This year CHAC is partnering with the Arvada Library, Denver Public Library, Colorado Folk Arts Council and MSU Denver CHS JTOH.

CHAC First Fridays will start again with "First Fridays in the Northside".  Join us at  HourGlass Hair Studio (2555 W 46th Ave, Denver, CO 80211) October 1 from 6pm-9pm.  Also, Part III of Generations Denver Artists and Their  Legacy, opens this Sunday at Converge Denver from 6pm-8:30pm. Denver Artists and Their  Legacy highlights artists from different generations who have impacted the Denver community and beyond.

Please see event details and calendars below!

Sincerely,
CHAC Staff

FEATURED CHAC ARTIST
JUDY MIRANDA

Judy Miranda, in September 2017 she had a retrospective at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles, California. She has displayed at many galleries including the Prado Museum in Spain, Casa de Las Americas, Havana Cuba, Bella de Artes, Mexico City and other international galleries as well as local.  The most recent exhibition was at the Hunter Gallery in New York in June 2018. Her professional artistic career has expanded more than 40 years. "Chac Gallery has been my home gallery for 29 years.  I have been a member since the early gallery days. Wherever Chac moved I followed.  The various artists in the gallery have had a large  influence on my work and have welcomed my different artistic styles throughout the years. My work has a wide range of artistic materials and mediums. I am not only a photographer but also a painter and a Santera (wood carver)." Judy arrived in Colorado in 1988 after teaching in Long Beach State University and other California colleges after receiving a commision in Colorado. She has been a major influence in the Denver art community.
