Pothole funding: We bet roads like this look familiar! The state government has announced $50 million to help councils fill potholes. Regional Roads Minister Sam Farraway visited Lovedale on Tuesday to announce the funding.
Kurri Kurri blaze: The old Kurri Kurri workers club caught fire this week for the second time in two years. About a dozen fire trucks attended the fire on Lang Street just after 3pm Monday. The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
Jets signings: The Newcastle Jets women have added another player to their roster, signing Adriana Konjarski. She has previously played for the club before stints with Adelaide and Melbourne City. She also played the 2022 season with local club Warners Bay.
Indoor pool in Newy: Newcastle councillors have voted to ask the state government to fund an all-weather aquatic centre in the city. A facility is being considered for the Venues New South Wales site at Hunter Park in Broadmeadow.
Uni spots: The University of Newcastle has been allocated 967 additional Commonwealth-supported places in areas like teaching, nursing and engineering. Federal MP for Newcastle Sharon Claydon says it will allow more Indigenous and remote students to obtain a higher education.
Hamilton shooting investigation: Police say no charges have been laid seven weeks after a 57-year-old man was shot dead at his front door in Hamilton South. Anthony Nugent was fatally shot at his Fowler Street unit.
Williamtown missile facility: The Hunter Defence Taskforce says it's still too early to understand the scale of a planned national integrated missile facility in Williamtown. Air defence and technology company Lockheed Martin Australia has announced it's spending $74 million to develop and test air missiles.

It looks like we'll score a bit of a reprieve from the rain which has drenched us in the past few weeks. We could see some rain activity in the Hunter on Thursday, but otherwise it should be partly cloudy and between 13 and 28 degrees. Nice!
