Human psychology is malleable. You can "edit" reality by changing how you perceive the world. You see it in the placebo effect, where the mind is able to trigger a healing response without an "active" pharmacological agent in play. Another example is the extra day that comes with the Leap Year. Tomorrow, February 29, is a day that doesn't really fit. It's an extra day. A free 24 hours. Like finding $50 in your winter jacket you hadn't wore since last year, it feels like a gift. Every extra Leap Year day I get, I fill to the brim. A mix of work, play, and leisure. This time, I'm going to be opening up a new shoe store featuring Peluvas, grab a long vigorous hike, and eat a great dinner, with a couple glasses of even better wine. I cram it in. To waste a free day feels like a sin, to be honest. The extra day is a great way to get ahead of the competition, even if your competition is yourself. And even if the game you're playing is for fun, not business. What about you folks? What are you planning on doing for your extra day? How are you going to fill it to the brim? |
