One month ago, I asked in this newsletter “Could Aston Martin turn to Honda in F1 2026?” And, lo, it came to pass.
I also stand by what I suggested then, that Aston Martin F1 could morph into a full-blown, factory Honda Racing F1 team down the road.
Lawrence Stroll’s consortium owns an 18% stake in the Aston Martin Lagonda automotive business. But he owns the F1 team lock, stock and brand-new factory.
With Chinese conglomerate Geely seemingly very keen on adding Aston to its portfolio (Volvo, Lotus, Polestar, Proton et al) – increasing its own stake in Aston to 17% this week. It’s making a lot of sense for Stroll, who is currently its executive chairman of AML, to milk this interest and raise much-needed multi-millions.
