The Lunch Line: What's open? How to apply for FEMA help. Life after Hurricane Ida

By Bob Warren

We’re deep into Day Two of digging out from Hurricane Ida. Feels like a month already. Hang in there, friends. It’s a long road and we’ll be tested. But we’ll make it.

So here’s some big stories from this morning:

  • You’re wondering what’s open. Where you can get food, gas. We’ve got a list - check back often.
  • Here’s the first of what will surely be many stories about how to apply for FEMA assistance.
  • The city’s opening food and water distribution sites.
  • Here are the major roadways that are open.
  • Add St. Charles Parish to those places struggling to restore water service.
  • And couple of stories from overnight out of St. Tammany: Authorities say a man might have been killed by an alligator; and nine people were brought to a hospital suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.
  • Finally, our graphics whiz Dan Swenson has this nicely detailed map showing where Ida came ashore, its track and some of the damage it wrought.

This is just a glimpse of our Ida coverage. Check out NOLA.com for the full menu.

Thanks for taking a break with the Lunch Line today. Stay safe.
