NATIONAL: The Billboard Music Awards have announced the dates for the 2021 award show, produced by Dick Clark Productions. The event will air live on NBC on Sunday, May 23. More details are set to be released in the coming weeks. The 2020 Billboard Music Awards took place Oct. 14 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. DALLAS: The annual Denton Black Film Festival is taking place in an all-virtual format from Jan. 27-31. The festival features films created by and featuring Black artists, as well as discussions about the films and other conversations about race. Tickets begin at $19.99. MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: David Grutman and his company Groot Hospitality will add three more restaurants to their roster in March. Winker’s Diner, Sushi Fly Chicken and Toothfairy will all be located in the former Firestone Garage on Alton Road. Winker’s Diner will be a 240-seat, vintage-themed restaurant with comfort foods, while Sushi Fly Chicken will feature Korean fried chicken, rice and more. The final restaurant, Toothfairy, will serve a variety of ice cream, cakes and other desserts. NEW YORK: The NY Now wholesale market begins its Digital Market Week Jan. 28. The event will connect consumers with brands, products and businesses virtually; it also allows businesses large and small to connect directly with their consumers through account profiles, and will use browsing history and search terms to connect clients to new brands they might enjoy. TAMPA, FLA: Super Bowl LV host city Tampa Bay is partnering with NFL Green to host a “Green Week” to promote the importance of maintaining the environment and restoring the area’s wildlife. The week, which kicked off Jan. 25 and runs until the big game on Feb. 2, features various events including debris clean up, fruit tree orchard planting and coral reef restoration.
