With thanks to LDS B&N GMBH | Latter-day Saints gathering again for general conference |
|
| | Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will gather in the Conference Center this weekend to attend the 193rd Annual General Conference. Attendance for each of the five sessions will be limited to 15,000 due to parking and accessibility concerns with the renovation of the Salt Lake Temple. October's conference focused on Jesus Christ and the rest and peace a covenantal relationship with Christ can bring in what President Russell M. Nelson called a “sin-saturated, self-centered and often exhausting world.” At the conclusion of that conference, President Nelson announced 18 temples. He announced 17 temples last April. There will be sessions at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. MDT today. Coverage can be found on Deseret.com and TheChurchNews.com. | Members of Utah's congressional delegation reacted on Twitter to the news of former President Donald Trump's indictment. Sen. Mike Lee tweeted, “This is not a good day for America,” and Rep. Chris Stewart expressed a similar sentiment, calling it a “sad day for America.” Both Stewart and Rep. Burgess Owens said it was an example of the political weaponization of the country's legal system. A spokesperson for Sen. Mitt Romney said the senator is waiting to comment “until the charges have been released and he has had a chance to read through them and review them.” Read more of what the delegation had to say here.
