INDUSTRY NEWS

DALLAS: The Rooftop Cinema Club opened its new drive-in theater location on Aug. 25, and a mix of modern and classical films will be shown at 8:15 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. screenings through Sept. 6. The 52-foot movie screen is located on North Carroll Avenue, and tickets start at $22 per vehicle.

LOS ANGELES: Microsoft Theater has received the Global Biorisk Advisory Council’s (GBAC) STAR facility accreditation. The 7,100-seat theater earned this gold standard for prepared facilities after complying with the program’s 20 core elements, including sanitation procedures in light of the pandemic. Microsoft Theater is the first midsize theater in Southern California to receive this award.

NEW YORK: The Sanctuary Hotel, located in the heart of Times Square, reopens for overnight guests as of Sept. 1. The hotel is teaming up with NY1 Minute to offer Weddings in a Flash. NY1 Minute provides brides and/or grooms with everything they need for a wedding with up to 50 guests—from officiants and photographers to virtual Zoom setups for friends and family members unable to attend.

SAN ANTONIO: San Antonio Botanical Gardens has opened its new event venue, The Betty Kelso Center. The venue, which boasts 3,500 square feet of space and banquet seating up to 250 guests, is the final project of the Botanical Garden’s $40 million GROW Capital Campaign.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: The Mandarin Oriental has reopened following temporary closures due to COVID-19. The luxury hotel is marking the reopening with several new packages, such as “Staycations by M.O” and “Working from M.O.” options that include daily in-room breakfast, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, and private fitness center access.
