The name Vermouth descends from the German word for wormwood, and it´s origins are found in ancient Greece. In fact it was Hippocrates who is credited with first mixing wine with wormwood and other spices. However, the modern Vermouth was created in 1786 by Antonio and Beneditto Carpano in Milan, Italy.

Vermouth found popularity during the mid 18th century when it was championed by a number of now world famous Italian and Spanish brands. Now Vermouth is the base ingredient for many popular cocktails such as The Negroni, Buñueloni, Americano, Manhattan, Rob Roy, Martinez and Manhattan.
