During this 90-minute webinar, Brian Garavaglia, PhD, FACHCA, will help participants prepare for the infection control requirements that are part of Phases 2 and 3 of the survey process changes. He will address the impact antibiotic resistance has had on long-term care, as well as prevention methods that are part of CMS’ antibiotic stewardship requirement. Attendees will learn how to use other CMS requirements, such as the facility assessment and QAPI, to create an effective infection prevention and control program. Attendees will also learn tips for training their infection preventionist.

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the infection preventionist’s role in the larger infection prevention and control program
  • Address the issue of bacterial resistance with effective antibiotic stewardship methods as mandated by CMS
  • Learn how to work with the pharmacist to understand individual residents’ infections and proper treatment methods
  • Track infections to increase infection prevention rates
